Greater Manchester RDA gets £1,000 boost from Join In
Join In, the official London 2012 legacy charity that helps UK sports clubs attract more volunteers has presented a cheque for £1,000 to Greater Manchester Riding for the Disabled Association. The RDA Group, one of nearly 500 around the UK, completed a survey run by Join In in partnership with BT. They were entered into a prize draw and won the cash boost, which will help to improve facilities at the centre. The Group said: “This award will make a great difference to us. We are currently fundraising to improve our facilities, carrying out much needed work to our arena and also putting in a path so that it will be more accessible to wheelchair users. This prize will take us a big step closer, especially as we can use it as match funding so it will double in value!” RDA relies on 19,000 dedicated volunteers around the country to deliver its services and Join In is supporting RDA Groups to connect with new volunteers in their local area through the Join In website. Join In CEO Rebecca Birkbeck said: “We are delighted to work with our founding partner BT to support volunteer run community sports clubs. RDA clubs do brilliant work to enable people with a disability to enjoy horse riding. It was great to visit Greater Manchester RDA and experience this first hand and we are pleased that the support of BT and Join In will enable to help more people to enjoy the sport.”
